Russian strikes on Ukraine’s warehouses and logistics facilities could lead to higher food prices for consumers. Experts predict that food prices could rise by up to 15%.
Olena Bilan, chief economist at the Kyiv-based investment bank Dragon Capital, told the Financial Times that companies whose warehouse facilities have been damaged by Russian strikes may be forced to raise prices. This applies to businesses that must rebuild destroyed facilities, find new premises, and reorganize their logistics routes.
“Companies that have suffered from strikes on their warehouses will have no choice but to pass these costs on to consumers,” Bilan said.
According to her assessment, Ukraine is unlikely to show economic growth this year. The economist also described the current period as a war of attrition that is increasingly affecting the economy.
In recent weeks, Russia has intensified its attacks on facilities related to domestic trade and manufacturing. Shopping centers, warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, and transportation infrastructure have come under attack. The Financial Times reports that major Ukrainian retailers, publishing companies, pharmaceutical firms, and “Nova Poshta” are already feeling the impact.

During the enemy attack on September 20, one of the logistics warehouses belonging to the “EKO Market” supermarket chain was damaged. All company employees are alive and unharmed.
As a result of the Russian drone attack in the Kyiv region on September 20, damage and fires were reported in the Bucha, Boryspil, and Fastiv districts, and one person was injured. Warehouses caught fire in the Boryspil district.
