Drones attacked Crimea, leaving Yevpatoria without power
On the night of July 10, a series of explosions rocked the temporarily occupied Crimea during a drone attack. According to local sources, a power substation in Yevpatoria was hit, leaving the city and part of the Saki District without power.
The first reports of explosions in occupied Crimea began to come in shortly after midnight. According to “Crimean Wind,” drones were spotted flying over the village of Uyutne near Yevpatoria—local mobile fire teams attempted to fire at them but were unsuccessful. Shortly thereafter, an explosion was heard, and the power went out in Yevpatoria itself.
Saki and the Saki District were also left without power, according to reports from subscribers to monitoring channels.
Preliminary reports indicate that the strike hit a power substation at 149 Internatsionalnaya Street in Yevpatoria. This is the 110/35/10 kV “Moynaki” substation—a key energy hub and the city’s step-down substation. After being hit, the facility caught fire, and the city and surrounding settlements lost power.
According to available information, the occupying authorities carried out a large-scale modernization of the substation at a cost of 1 billion rubles back in 2024: At that time, the power transformers were replaced, and the facility’s total capacity was increased nearly fourfold—to 126 MVA, according to Krymskyi Viter.
As a reminder, Ukraine announced that it had struck 19 Russian tankers carrying fuel for Crimea.
Emergency roaming has been launched in Crimea due to power outages.
In the temporarily occupied Crimea, amid blackouts, spots have begun to appear where people can use Wi-Fi and charge their devices using a generator.
