Brovdi urged people not to expect a quick ceasefire
Robert Brovdi, commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, whose call sign is “Madyar,” urged Ukrainians not to count on a quick ceasefire. According to him, Russia continues to escalate the conflict and is exploiting opportunities to strike at Ukrainian rear areas. Brovdi emphasized that the Defense Forces need time to prepare a response and rearm.
Robert Brovdi, “Madyar,” commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, urged Ukrainians not to rely on the expectation of a quick ceasefire and an end to the war. He voiced his position amid talk of a possible quick peace. Brovdi stated that such expectations do not reflect what is currently happening on the front lines and in Ukraine’s rear.
According to the commander, Russia, on the contrary, continues to escalate the conflict and is exploiting new opportunities to launch attacks. “Putin is definitely not interested in peace. He craves blood, to the point of completely destroying us,” Brovdi wrote. He also drew attention to strikes on Ukraine’s rear areas. According to him, Russian troops are now exploiting opportunities presented by new types of attack drones.
Brovdi called this Russia’s “jet-Shahid” window of opportunity. In his assessment, the enemy is trying to use this period to intensify attacks specifically on rear areas. At the same time, the commander stated that, in his opinion, Russia will not achieve significant success on the front lines in 2026.
At the same time, he emphasized that the situation should not be assessed based on expectations of a quick end to the war. In his view, Ukrainians need to look at the actual data and take into account the capabilities of both sides. “If we want to survive, we need to be guided by rational analysis and mathematics, not by unrealistic dreams,” Brovdi noted.
The commander also reported that the Defense Forces are preparing a response to the Russian military’s new capabilities. This includes, in particular, countermeasures and rearmament. According to Brovdi, preparing such a response takes time. He did not specify exact timelines, as they depend on several factors. “And yes, the Defense Forces will close the enemy’s current window of opportunity through countermeasures, including rearmament, which takes time,” he wrote.
Separately, Brovdi assessed the situation on the front lines. He described it as complex and stated that Russian troops will likely continue their offensive operations. At the same time, the commander noted that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are increasing the scale of their destruction of Russian troops. According to him, this is precisely what must be taken into account when assessing the situation.
Brovdi had previously spoken about the prospects for ending the war. In late September, he told The Telegraph in an interview that, from a military standpoint, he did not see any possibility of ending the war, even if an agreement were reached to suspend hostilities. At the same time, he specifically emphasized that he would not venture to assess the situation from a political perspective.
In his new statement, the commander also appealed to Ukrainians not to count on a scenario in which the war would end quickly simply through an agreement. “The army has been tempered; now it’s time for the home front to grow up as well. Don’t believe in illusions or miracles—let’s rely on our own strength and on one another,” Brovdi wrote. Thus, Brovdi urged Ukrainians to prepare for the war to continue and not to pin their hopes on a quick ceasefire. At the same time, he stated that the Defense Forces are working on a response to the new capabilities of Russian troops, but this will take time. Robert Brovdi reported this on Facebook.
