Part of the city of Konotop was left without gas following shelling by Russia
Today, March 30, 2026, Russian occupiers launched another attack on the Sumy region.
The mayor of Konotop, Artem Semenikhin, officially reported on the consequences of the enemy attack.
A powerful explosion rocked the city of Konotop, resulting in significant damage to critical infrastructure.
The explosion occurred around 11 a.m., leading to an immediate halt in energy supplies to some residential areas.
“We have infrastructure damage. Some residents are left without gas,” the mayor stated, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation for the region’s public utilities.
This shelling is a continuation of Russia’s systematic terror against Ukraine’s energy sector.
For the fourth consecutive day, facilities belonging to the Naftogaz group have been targeted by the enemy: the day before, production assets in the Sumy region and gas production facilities in the Poltava region came under attack.
Emergency services and specialized experts are currently working at the site of the strike in Konotop.
The extent of the damage is being assessed, and emergency crews have begun urgent work to address the consequences of the attack in order to restore gas supply to the population as quickly as possible.
“The extent of the damage is currently being assessed, and work to address the consequences of the attack is ongoing,” the city council added.
As a reminder, Russians attacked three settlements in the Chernihiv region with drones; a child was injured.
The Russians also attacked Kyiv Oblast with drones: there is damage.
