Due to attacks by the Russian Federation, some regions are without power

Due to attacks by the Russian Federation, some regions are without power

Following Russian shelling, some residents of five regions in Ukraine have been left without power. These regions are Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Cherkasy, and Kharkiv. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Energy states that energy workers are already working around the clock to restore power to residents as quickly as possible. As of May 25, no new power outage schedules are expected across the country. As a result of hostilities and shelling of energy facilities, power grids and equipment were damaged in several regions of Ukraine. Because of this, some consumers were temporarily left without electricity.

The Ministry of Energy reported that emergency crews are working around the clock. Repair crews are restoring damaged lines and substations as soon as the security situation allows. “Energy workers are working around the clock to restore power to all customers as quickly as possible,” the ministry noted.

According to the Ministry of Energy, there are currently no plans to impose electricity consumption restrictions on the public. At the same time, Ukrainians are urged to use electricity sparingly during peak hours—in the morning and evening.

The ministry reminds the public that even in the absence of scheduled outages, the system remains vulnerable due to constant Russian attacks. That is why conserving energy helps reduce the load on the power grid.

Separately, experts draw attention to the situation in the summer. Despite a more stable power grid, the risk of blackouts has not completely disappeared. The main challenges remain potential new massive attacks on the energy sector, heat waves, and scheduled maintenance at nuclear power plants.

Experts also note that Ukraine still lacks large-scale energy storage systems. Because of this, even the active development of solar power generation does not always help cover evening consumption peaks.

The Ministry of Energy advises the public to monitor official announcements from their regional power companies, as the situation may change depending on the consequences of new attacks and the state of the power grid.

Russian occupiers attacked Balakliya with drones

As a reminder, in Sumy on May 23, one of the men injured during a Russian attack on a funeral procession died. The man sustained critical injuries after a drone struck the funeral procession on the outskirts of the city.

In Sumy, a Russian FPV drone struck a funeral procession heading to the cemetery, resulting in casualties. Medical personnel are already treating the wounded; one of them is in critical condition.

Russian troops continue to launch massive attacks on the Kherson region. Over the past day, one person was killed in the region, and another 20 were wounded. Kherson and more than three dozen other settlements came under fire.
