The four residents of Cherkasy region who died had gone to look at the wreckage of a drone
On Wednesday, April 1, in the Zolotonosha district of the Cherkasy region, four local residents were killed when the warhead of an enemy drone that had crashed in a field exploded.
Iryna Holovnya, spokesperson for the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, reported this in a statement to Suspilne.
According to the regional prosecutor’s office, the tragedy occurred around 1:00 p.m. during an air raid alert in an open area between settlements. People approached the site where the UAV had crashed out of curiosity, which led to the fatal detonation of the unexploded munition.
The Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into the commission of a war crime by the Russian Federation. Investigators and bomb disposal experts are working at the scene to establish all the circumstances of the incident. Law enforcement officials once again emphasize the deadly danger posed by any remnants of missiles or drones, which may contain hidden threats even after they have fallen.
Authorities and emergency services urge citizens to strictly follow safety rules: do not approach suspicious objects, do not attempt to move them, and do not photograph them. If debris is found, immediately report it by calling 101 or 102. Remember that enemy weapons remain dangerous until they are officially neutralized by specialists. A search of the area is currently underway to locate any other possible parts of the downed aircraft.
