Authorities in the capital have charged the director of a private metal processing company with causing significant air pollution.
This was reported by the Podil District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv.
According to the investigation, the enterprise in the Podilskyi district systematically exceeded permissible emission limits, which led to complaints from residents of Syrets, Kurenivka, Nyvky, Zamkovyshche, Pochaina, Obolon, and Lukianivka.
During inspections, specialists from the State Environmental Inspection recorded excessive levels of harmful substances: carbon monoxide—nearly 11 times the limit, and sulfur dioxide—nearly 20 times the limit.
An expert assessment determined that the damage caused to the environment exceeds 2.5 million hryvnias.
Investigators believe that the director failed to ensure proper control over emissions, which led to serious consequences. He is charged with air pollution and abuse of authority.
