Crew of Ukrainian Mi-24 killed repelling enemy attack
On December 18, the crew of a Ukrainian Mi-24 helicopter died while carrying out a combat mission, defending against an enemy attack, the 12th Separate Army Aviation Brigade reported.
The circumstances of the crew’s deaths have not yet been disclosed. The brigade emphasized that, for security reasons and out of respect for the families, details are not being made public at this time. The statement highlighted the magnitude of the loss for Ukrainian aviation and the country as a whole.
“This is an irreparable loss for aviation, for the country, and for the families who were awaiting their loved ones at home,” the 12th Separate Army Aviation Brigade stated.
Following the crew’s death, the brigade appealed to the public to support the families of the fallen soldiers. A fundraising campaign has been launched to help the four families who lost their loved ones. “Today, a dark cloud has fallen over our aviation family. During a combat mission, the crew of a Mi-24 helicopter was killed,” the brigade said. They added that all collected funds will be transferred to the families after the campaign concludes.
