A Russian drone struck a civilian vessel flying the Turkish flag. The strike caused a fire on board. According to preliminary reports, two crew members were injured; the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
The Ukrainian Navy reported this on Facebook.
Overnight, the enemy used a UAV to attack the dry cargo ship ANT, which was sailing under the flag of Vanuatu (the ship’s owner is Turkey) from one of the ports in the Odesa region to Turkey with cargo on board.
A fire broke out after the vessel’s superstructure was hit.
Thanks to the coordinated and professional actions of units from the Maritime Search and Rescue Service and the Ukrainian Navy, the fire was quickly contained.
Two injured crew members were promptly evacuated by Ukrainian Navy boats and transported to a medical facility.
