On the night of July 2, a fire broke out at one of Russia’s largest oil refineries in the Russian city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, following a drone attack. This was reported by Russian sources.
According to available information, the “Lukoil-Nizhegorodnaftorgsintez” oil refinery was struck, after which a fire broke out on the plant’s premises.
“Lukoil-Nizhegorodnaftorgsintez” is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries and plays a key role in supplying fuel to the Moscow region.
The facility’s crude oil refining capacity is approximately 17 million metric tons per year.
The plant produces more than 50 types of products, including:
- motor fuel;
- aviation fuel;
- diesel fuel;
- petroleum bitumen;
- paraffins and other petroleum products.
The Novogirkivska Thermal Power Plant is located next to the oil refinery. There is currently no information regarding damage to the thermal power plant or a risk of the fire spreading to this facility.
At the same time, this refinery has repeatedly been the target of drone attacks. According to reports, strikes on the facility were also recorded in April and May 2026.
Russian authorities have not yet released detailed information regarding the extent of the damage or the consequences of the incident.

Furthermore, drones struck the temporarily occupied Crimea. According to preliminary reports, one of the targets of the attack was the Tavriya Thermal Power Plant.
Over the past 24 hours in Zaporizhzhia, 2 people were killed and 36 wounded as a result of Russian attacks.

On the night of July 1, Russian troops carried out a massive attack with strike drones on the Dnipropetrovsk region.
As a reminder, on the evening of June 30, Russian forces attacked an electric locomotive in the Dnipropetrovsk region with a drone. There were no casualties, as the locomotive crew was warned of the danger in time, and the workers managed to take cover.
Ukrainian drones struck eight of the ten largest Russian oil refineries by processing volume, with some facilities being hit multiple times.
