The General Staff confirmed that the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery had been hit
On August 28, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that the “Slavneft-YANOS” oil refinery in Yaroslavl, Russia, had been struck. A fire broke out on the refinery’s premises following the strike.
On the night of August 28, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a facility in the Yaroslavl region of the Russian Federation. The consequences of the attack and the extent of the damage to the facility are currently being assessed.
“Slavneft-YANOS” is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries and is part of PJSC “Slavneft.” The refinery has a capacity of approximately 15 million metric tons of crude oil per year.
The facility carries out a full cycle of oil refining and produces automotive gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, lubricants, and other petroleum products.
The General Staff emphasized that the facility is involved in meeting the needs of the Russian Armed Forces. “Operations against key enemy targets are ongoing,” the statement said.
