The General Staff reported large-scale nighttime strikes on Russian military targets
On the night of May 21–22, 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a large-scale series of coordinated strikes against military infrastructure, logistics hubs, and Russian troop deployment sites. The operations were conducted both in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and directly in the border regions of the Russian Federation.
The main objective of the strikes is to tie down enemy reserves and reduce their offensive capabilities on the approaches to the border, according to an official report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The operational-tactical report pays particular attention to the effective fire damage inflicted on enemy personnel and equipment on Russian territory. Ukrainian units delivered a precision strike on an area where Russian army personnel were concentrated in the village of Troebortne in the Bryansk region. In addition, an enemy command and observation post in the village of Tetkino, Kursk Oblast, came under targeted fire.
In the occupied Ukrainian territories and frontline zones, the Defense Forces struck a number of critical targets across several key areas:
Air defense and command posts: An “Osa” anti-aircraft missile system was detected and destroyed in Donetsk. Concurrently, hits were recorded on command and observation posts in Novopetrikivka, Donetsk Oblast; a command post near Voskresenka in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast; and a communications hub in Verkhniy Tokmak-2, Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
UAV infrastructure and depots: The military successfully struck unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) command posts in the areas of Selidovo, Malynivka, and Vesele in the Donetsk region. At the same time, ammunition depots in Velyka Novosilka, a logistics facility in Donetsk, and a large logistics depot in Rovenky in the Luhansk region were destroyed.
Reserves and crossings: Firepower strikes against the occupiers’ manpower took place in the areas of Selidovo, Ukrainka, and Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast, as well as in Malynivka, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. To complicate enemy maneuvering and logistics, Ukrainian forces disabled crossings over the Oskil and Bakhmutivka rivers in the areas of Holubivka, Kharkiv Oblast, and Siversk, Donetsk Oblast.
Fighters from the 3rd Special Operations Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, “Spartan,” successfully destroyed Russian invaders’ vehicles near the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a pilot training facility belonging to the Russian Academy of Missile and Artillery Sciences.
