The Main Intelligence Directorate released an intercepted conversation involving an occupier in the Zaporizhzhia sector

Ukrainian intelligence intercepted a conversation between a Russian soldier in the Zaporizhzhia sector, in which he complains about the situation at his position and asks his commander for water and a lighter. According to the soldier, he has been left without essential supplies and does not really understand whether anyone intends to help him. The Main Intelligence Directorate stated that the soldier is a member of the Russian Army’s 36th Motorized Rifle Brigade.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense released an audio recording of a conversation with a Russian soldier stationed in the Zaporizhzhia sector. In the recording, the occupier tells his commander that he cannot move properly, his belongings have been burned, and he does not even know the exact time.

According to the Russian soldier, the situation at his position has become so dire that he sees no way out. “As I understand it, the order here is to die, right?” the occupier says in the conversation.

He also asks to be sent just two things—water and a lighter. “In short, one last thing—drop me a lighter and some water. That’s it; I don’t need anything else—I’ll just die here,” said the Russian soldier. However, instead of help, he receives an order from his commander to keep waiting. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), the soldier was told in response that it was not yet time for the supply to arrive.

Ukrainian intelligence notes that such intercepted communications reveal problems with supplying Russian troops and the Russian Federation’s command’s attitude toward its own personnel. Previously, the Main Intelligence Directorate also published intercepted conversations between Russian soldiers in which they complained about casualties, problems on the front lines, and the actions of their own command. This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

As a reminder, Russian drones attacked the Chernihiv region, damaging a gas station and a resort.

Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv on the afternoon of July 24, although such attacks usually take place at night. An expert believes this may have been an attempt to wear down Ukrainian air defense, a show of force, or the result of a technical delay in the missile launch.

Russian troops shot and killed a Ukrainian prisoner of war in the Donetsk region.
