Residents of several communities in the border areas of Sumy Oblast have been evacuated since early May
Between May 1 and May 11, 343 people were evacuated from border towns in the Sumy region.
This was reported by Oleg Grigorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
Most people left the Velykopysarivska, Seredyna-Budska, and Krasnopilsk communities. Evacuations also took place in the Bilopilsk, Yunakivsk, Mykolaivsk, Shalyhynsk, Zno-Novgorodsk, Hlukhivsk, and Esmansk communities.
According to Grigorov, special assistance centers and temporary housing facilities continue to operate in the region for people leaving dangerous areas.
“Transit centers, temporary shelters, and available houses and apartments for resettlement are operating in the region for evacuees. Modular towns for displaced persons also remain operational, and the construction of new housing continues,” Grigorov emphasized.
The head of the Regional State Administration thanked all services and volunteers involved in the evacuation of border residents and urged people not to delay their decision to leave dangerous areas.
“The risks to life in the border area are extremely high,” Grigorov added.
In addition, the authorities of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast are implementing measures for the mandatory evacuation of the population from the most dangerous areas of the Nikopol district.
