Zelenskyy hopes that Trump will raise the issue of ending the war during his visit to China

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that the negotiation process would gain new momentum thanks to international diplomacy.

In particular, the head of state expects that U.S. President Donald Trump will raise the issue of ending the war during his official visit to China.

The Ukrainian leader made this statement during a speech at the “Bucharest Nine” summit, where key challenges to regional security were discussed.

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of ongoing dialogue with Washington and joint efforts to put pressure on the aggressor country.

“We are in constant contact with our American partners, we are grateful to them, and we expect that the issue of ending Russia’s war against Ukraine will be raised now as well—while the U.S. president is in China,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized in his address.

The head of state emphasized that Ukraine continues to actively use all available diplomatic tools to achieve a stable peace.

He noted that a combination of international pressure and negotiations in various formats is key to ending hostilities.

“We are not giving up on our diplomatic efforts, and we hope that pressure on Russia, combined with negotiations in various formats, will help bring about peace,” the president said.

Ukraine is currently focusing on engaging world leaders in active mediation.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid special attention to the need to strengthen economic sanctions against the Russian Federation.

In his view, the sanctions regime remains one of the most effective methods of deterring the Kremlin’s aggressive intentions.

“Sanctions are working, our long-range capabilities are working, and every form of your pressure is working,” the president told summit participants.

He urged partners not to reduce the intensity of their support and to continue coordinating their actions.

Official Tehran refused to participate in the second round of peace talks with the United States, which were to take place in Islamabad.

Iran rejected Trump’s claims regarding the transfer of uranium to the U.S. and accused him of manipulation.
