Commander Vladislav Polsky was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine for rescuing two seriously wounded soldiers. Under enemy fire, he reached the soldiers who were stranded on a damaged robotic platform, carried them to a pickup truck, and transported them to safety.
Vladislav Polsky was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine “for personal courage and heroism demonstrated in defending Ukraine’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for his selfless service to the Ukrainian people.”
The Rescue of Ukrainian Soldiers—What Is Known
As reported by the Joint Forces Operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two servicemen from the 475th Separate Assault Regiment “Code 9.2” successfully completed a combat mission and captured enemy positions.
On their way back, they were attacked by Russian “Molniya” drones. As a result of the strikes, both assault soldiers sustained serious injuries and were unable to move on their own.
The wounded soldiers were left in the middle of an open field on a disabled ground-based robotic platform.
At that moment, aerial reconnaissance spotted a civilian pickup truck traveling at high speed directly toward the dangerous area. Vladislav Polsky was behind the wheel. The assault company commander was rushing to help his men and, according to military officials, didn’t even have time to put on his body armor.
He reached the disabled robotic platform and then, single-handedly, carried the two seriously wounded soldiers into the bed of the pickup truck.
The soldier then quickly transported them from the danger zone to a safe shelter. For saving the soldiers, the commander was awarded the highest military honor.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the corresponding decree on August 19.
