Russia has built a secret complex of biological laboratories on an isolated island
Russia has established a secret military complex of biological laboratories in the Tver Region, where, according to Ukrainian intelligence, research on dangerous viruses and other pathogens may be conducted.
The facility, known as the “Center for Experimental Physiology,” is located on Lisy Island in the middle of the Vyshnevolochsk Reservoir. Formally, it is part of the Russian Federation’s Federal Medical and Biological Agency.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), since 2023, the area around the island has been closed to fishing, swimming, and boating, and has been designated a specially protected area.
At the same time, the reservoir is used to supply drinking water to settlements in the region, particularly Vyshny Volochek. The Tvertsa River, which flows into the Volga, also originates there.

Ukrainian intelligence claims that the complex was created on the orders of Vladimir Putin as a facility of special importance for “ensuring Russia’s defense capability and security.” The area is under heavy guard, and Russian air defense systems provide aerial cover.
The Main Intelligence Directorate warns of potential risks to the population in the event of a leak of dangerous pathogens or chemicals into the reservoir.
“Soldiers assigned to guard the facility express fear in private conversations of becoming infected with some unknown ‘crap,’” the intelligence agency stated.

Putin replaced Russian commanders in Ukraine after plans to seize the Donbas fell through.
As a reminder, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law imposing strict restrictions on citizens abroad who have been convicted in absentia under political articles of the Russian Criminal or Administrative Codes, specifically for “discrediting” the army, calling for sanctions, or participating in “undesirable organizations.”
