Lavrov called for the restoration of the rights of Russian speakers in Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that, according to Moscow, one of the conditions for a peaceful resolution of the war against Ukraine must be the “restoration of the rights” of Russians and Russian-speaking citizens in Ukraine.

According to Lavrov, Russia will allegedly “definitely ensure” the restoration of the rights of those “against whom the Kyiv regime has unleashed open terror.”

He emphasized that Moscow considers the resolution of this issue to be one of the key conditions for achieving, as he put it, “a long-term settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.”

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also stated that the Kremlin will continue its policy aimed at supporting the Russian language outside the Russian Federation.

“Moscow will continue to resolutely counter any manifestations of linguistic discrimination and Russophobia, Lavrov said.

In addition, he announced Russia’s intention to continue promoting the Russian language and its study in other countries.

The issue of protecting the Russian-speaking population and the Russian language has repeatedly been used by Russian authorities as one of the arguments in their rhetoric regarding Ukraine.

Lavrov’s latest statement came against the backdrop of the ongoing war and diplomatic discussions regarding possible ways to end it. At the same time, the Russian side continues to voice its own conditions for a potential settlement of the conflict.

The Russian foreign minister made the statement on the occasion of Russian Language Day.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s refusal to engage in direct negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will have serious consequences for Russia. According to him, following such a decision, the aggressor country will face new losses, economic problems, and increased international pressure.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow is allegedly ready for negotiations to end the war against Ukraine, but sees no willingness for dialogue on the Ukrainian side.

Putin is not changing course and continues to finance the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy published an open letter to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The document formally proposes ending the war through direct bilateral talks between the leaders and implementing a complete ceasefire.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s open letter to Kremlin leader Putin has garnered widespread attention in the international media. Leading global publications have offered varying assessments of the Ukrainian leader’s appeal, noting both his tough rhetoric and diplomatic signals.
