Madyar described the situation in the liberated villages near the front lines
Robert Brovdi, commander of the “Madyar’s Birds” unit—known by the call sign “Madyar”—spoke about the situation in the liberated Ukrainian villages located near the front lines. According to him, even after the withdrawal of Russian troops, these settlements remain dangerous for a long time.
Madyar noted that even after liberation, the villages continue to come under fire. Abandoned pets also remain among the destroyed and damaged houses.
Madyar noted that staying in the liberated villages, located about 10–15 km from the front line, remains dangerous even for Ukrainian soldiers. “A liberated village is still a ghost town for the next six months. And then there will be a difficult road to recovery. And it’s not certain that everyone will recover. When it comes to rebuilding from scratch—when everything has been reduced to rubble—it’s better to build in a new location than on the site of the ruins,” said Madyar.
According to the military official, Russian troops continue to shell settlements in an attempt to destroy them. He described this as a tactic in which a village is shelled until virtually every single house is destroyed. “Those bastards are relentlessly shelling these settlements to physically destroy them. It’s called ‘demolishing the village.’ They’ll keep shelling for two months until every single house is hit,” the soldier said.
The soldier also drew attention to the animals left behind by their owners. In the liberated villages, he said, you can see cows, bulls, ducks, geese, chickens, as well as a large number of cats and dogs. “All these villages are full of feral domestic animals,” Madyar said.
He explained that some of the livestock suffer concussions after the explosions and end up wandering through the villages: “The villages are full of feral domestic animals that don’t just go out into the fields—they have nowhere to go, so they wander around the village. Those cows and bulls—when shells explode near them, they aren’t killed; they just get concussions. And they wander aimlessly through the village, not understanding what’s happening.”
At the same time, other domestic animals remain in the abandoned villages, continuing to live in their yards. “I’m not talking about ducks, geese, or chickens, which just go about their lives in this little enclave, each in its own yard, and don’t really migrate,” said Madyar.
Madyar also said that the military is picking up abandoned cats and dogs in the settlements where they are stationed. “We’re already tripping over cats here at our base… I’ve locked myself in so the cats and dogs don’t surround me,” Madyar said.
According to the soldier, the animals are getting used to people, and some are even having offspring. “We love them, we feed them, and they’re very grateful to us for that. They rub against our faces when we sleep for a couple of hours. They’re part of our lives. They give birth to kittens. They give birth to puppies. The numbers keep growing. And life is bustling. And that’s great—it brings us positivity,” the soldier said.

Madyar responded to Orban’s remarks about the Hungarian anti-corruption agency.
Hungary has officially established the National Asset Recovery Agency, which will be responsible for tracking down and recovering public funds that were illegally appropriated in previous years. The new agency is one of the key anti-corruption reforms of Prime Minister Péter Mádár’s government following his victory in the parliamentary elections.
Hungary’s Prosecutor General Gábor Balint Nád has submitted his resignation. He had assumed the position under the previous administration, and the new Prime Minister, Péter Magyar, had demanded his dismissal.
As a reminder, Hungary will remain without a president.
