The head of the Moscow Region Police Department's procurement division was caught stealing a week after his appointment
The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow has arrested Gennady Peshkov, head of the Center for Logistics and Support Services of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Moscow Region, in connection with a case involving the embezzlement of fuel for official vehicles totaling at least 100 million rubles. The official was appointed to this position on September 10—just one week after the arrest of his predecessor, Alexei Suyarov, in the same case.
Also named as suspects in the case are Major General Sergei Malkov, head of logistics; Anna Levina, head of one of the departments; and four top managers of the company “Eurotrans,” which owns the “Trassa” gas station chain. According to investigators, the officials diverted gasoline and diesel fuel intended for the police to a commercial network to cover shortages at its gas stations, resulting in a fuel shortage for the law enforcement agencies themselves. The total loss resulting from the suspects’ actions is estimated at 600 million rubles.
Peshkov, who previously headed the fuel acceptance commission, was initially involved in the case as a witness, and his testimony was used to arrest the other suspects. Meanwhile, the company “Eurotrans” defaulted on several bond issues due to problems servicing its debt.

In Russia, a court sentenced Lieutenant General Yuri Kuznetsov, the former head of the Defense Ministry’s personnel department, to 12 years in a strict-regime penal colony in a bribery case. He was also fined 125.35 million rubles, stripped of his military rank and state awards, and barred from holding leadership positions for six years after his release.
