The Ministry of Defense is stepping up anti-drone defenses along front-line routes

Since the beginning of 2026, Ukraine has deployed 1,066 kilometers of anti-drone defenses along key logistics routes. These defenses help ensure the safe delivery of ammunition, equipment, and supplies, as well as the evacuation of the wounded from frontline areas.

The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that work is ongoing. In just the last month and a half, hundreds of kilometers of new defenses have been built and damaged sections have been repaired.

Since the beginning of 2026, the State Special Transport Service, acting on behalf of the Ministry of Defense, has already installed 1,066 kilometers of anti-drone protection along the most critical logistics routes.

The ministry noted that these structures protect the roads used daily by military convoys carrying ammunition, equipment, and supplies, as well as those transporting the wounded from the front lines. Work has been particularly intensive in recent weeks. Since the beginning of June, in frontline regions:

  • 325 kilometers of new anti-drone defenses have been built;
  • over 31 kilometers of damaged structures have been repaired;
  • nearly 233 kilometers of roads have been repaired.

In addition, since April, when large-scale restoration work began, road crews have already carried out routine repairs and maintenance on over 369.6 kilometers of roads. Work is currently ongoing at 16 additional sites, while 27 projects have already been fully completed.

The Ministry of Defense explains that logistics routes remain one of the main targets for Russian drones today, so protecting them is critical to the operations of the Defense Forces. “In modern warfare, logistics routes are one of the enemy’s priority targets, so having protection against drones directly impacts the sustainability of supply to units,” the Ministry of Defense emphasized.

The ministry added that protected roads allow for faster and safer transport of ammunition, equipment, and personnel, as well as the evacuation of the wounded. “Logistical security is one of the key factors in the resilience of the Defense Forces. That is why the Ministry of Defense is stepping up the deployment of anti-drone defenses along frontline routes,” the ministry noted.

Work to create new protective sections and repair existing structures is ongoing. The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the development of such infrastructure remains one of the key areas of support for Ukrainian troops on the front lines. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense’s press center.

A cloud of smoke from burning Wildberries warehouses and an oil depot blanketed the Moscow region.

On the night of July 18, Ukrainian UAVs attacked the Russian Wildberries logistics center in Elektrostal, near Moscow, and in the Tomsk region.

On July 18, Ukrainian drones struck 13 Russian ships in the Azov and Black Seas.
