Moscow is under attack by drones; officials report that dozens have been shot down

On the morning of June 30, residents of the Moscow Region reported a large-scale drone swarm flying toward Moscow. Drones were also spotted in the Tula Region.

According to Russian Telegram channels, starting around 4:00 a.m., Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin regularly reported on the operation of the air defense system and the alleged destruction of drones heading toward the Russian capital.

However, some of the reports only mentioned that drones had been shot down without specifying where they were detected, which may indicate that the drones were approaching Moscow directly.

Subsequently, videos began appearing on social media in which local residents captured footage of a large number of drones flying over the Moscow region.

As of 5:45 a.m., Sobyanin stated that Russian air defense forces had allegedly shot down 50 drones, and that the attack itself was still ongoing at that time.

In addition, around 4:00 a.m., reports emerged of drones flying over the Tula region. There is currently no information regarding possible hits or the consequences of the attack in Moscow and Tula.

In recent weeks, drone attacks on Russian territory have intensified significantly. Russian regions are increasingly reporting air defense operations, restrictions at airports, and attacks on military and industrial facilities.

On the night of June 26, drones attacked the Azot plant in Novomoskovsk, Russia, which is one of the key facilities for the Russian defense-industrial complex. Local residents reported explosions that lasted several hours, and the smell of ammonia was noticeable in the area around the plant.

Earlier, in the temporarily occupied Crimea, a large-scale closure of gas stations began due to a critical shortage of petroleum products. The fuel supply problem even affected the largest regional fuel networks, including the companies TES and ATAN.

On June 25, explosions were heard in Ufa, Russia, after which a thick column of black smoke was visible near one of the industrial facilities.
