There were 134 clashes on the front lines, with the heaviest fighting in the Pokrovsk and Kostyantynivka sectors
Since the start of the day on September 22, there have been 134 combat engagements along the front lines. Russian forces launched the most attacks in the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka sectors, where Ukrainian troops jointly repelled 40 assaults.
Russian troops continue to attack Ukrainian positions in various sectors of the front. As of September 22, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had recorded 134 combat engagements. In addition to the assaults, the Russian army launched a missile strike and carried out 53 airstrikes. During this time, the occupiers dropped 191 guided aerial bombs.
The Russians also deployed 5,378 kamikaze drones and carried out 1,999 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas. Eight of these attacks were conducted using multiple-launch rocket systems.
The Situation in Northern Kharkiv Oblast
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Russian troops have launched two assaults since the start of the day. The occupiers also carried out two airstrikes and dropped five guided bombs. In addition, Russian troops shelled Ukrainian positions and populated areas 101 times. In the Southern Slobozhansky direction, the Russians attacked much more aggressively. Over the past 24 hours, they attempted to storm the positions of the Defense Forces 12 times. Fighting took place near Staritsa, Grafskoye, and Lyman. Russian forces also attempted to advance toward Maly Burluk, Putnikove, and Radkivka. Another clash in this sector was still ongoing as of the time this report was prepared.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled one attack. The Russians attempted to advance toward Borova.
In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian Defense Forces halted two attempts by Russian troops to advance. Fighting took place in the Novoselivka area.
The Donetsk region saw the most assaults
The Kostiantynivka sector remains one of the hottest. Here, Russian troops attempted to breach Ukrainian defenses 19 times. Ukrainian forces repelled all of these attacks. The occupiers stormed positions near Kostiantynivka, Novoselivka, Rozkishne, Novopavlivka, Kucherove Yar, and Vilne. Another clash in this sector was still ongoing as of 10:00 p.m.
There were even more attacks in the Pokrovsk direction. Over the past 24 hours, the Defense Forces repelled 21 assaults by Russian troops. Russian forces attempted to advance near Novy Donbas, Bilitske, Novohryshyne, Vodyanske, Molodetske, Muravka, Myrne, Serhiivka, Novopidhorodne, and Novopavlivka. Another clash in the Pokrovsk direction was ongoing.
Casualties Reported in the Pokrovsk Direction
According to preliminary data from the Ukrainian military, 38 Russian soldiers were killed in the Pokrovsk sector over the past 24 hours. Another eight occupiers were wounded.
The Ukrainian military also destroyed one vehicle, 11 pieces of specialized equipment, and one Russian military shelter. In addition, two pieces of specialized equipment, three drone control centers, and 43 enemy shelters were damaged.
Separately, Ukrainian forces destroyed or neutralized 46 Russian drones of various types. These figures are preliminary data for the current 24-hour period.
What’s Happening on Other Fronts
On the Sloviansk front, Ukrainian forces repelled one Russian attempt to advance in the Kalenyky area.
On the Kramatorsk front, one Russian assault was recorded. The battle took place near Fedorivka.
On the Oleksandrivka front, the Defense Forces repelled two attacks. Russian troops attempted to advance near Berezove and Solodke.
Three more attacks by Russian forces took place in the Huliaipole sector. The occupiers launched assaults near Huliaipole and Charivne, and also attempted to advance toward Vozdvyzhivka.
At the same time, no Russian assaults were recorded over the past 24 hours in the Orikhiv and Dnipro sectors.
The General Staff notes that no significant changes in the situation occurred on other fronts. Thus, the heaviest fighting that day took place on the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka fronts. It was there that Russian troops carried out 40 attacks, but Ukrainian forces were able to repel them. Combat operations continued in some sections of the front even after 10:00 p.m., according to a Facebook post by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ukrainian defense forces regained control of new areas of territory between Dvorichna and Zapadny in the Kharkiv region. According to the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Charter,” troops liberated an additional 4 km², while analysts from DeepState reported the clearing of 2 km² of forest and an advance near Zapadny.
Ukrainian defense forces have liberated the village of Seredne in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian troops also pushed back Russian occupiers in the Shandryholove area.
The liberation of the villages of Shandryholove and Drobysheve allowed Ukrainian forces to fully regain control of a key area that defends the approaches to the Liman.
