In the Kharkiv region, preparations are underway for the mandatory evacuation of children

In the Kharkiv region, preparations are underway for the mandatory evacuation of children

In the Kharkiv region, authorities plan to implement a mandatory evacuation of children from a number of settlements due to the deteriorating security situation. Local residents are advised not to delay and to leave immediately.

Due to the deteriorating security situation, the Derhachi City Military Administration in the Kharkiv region will appeal to the Kharkiv Regional Defense Council with a proposal to declare a mandatory evacuation of children from the following settlements:

  • Slatine;
  • Ruska Lozova.

“The Derhachi City Administration, our council, will appeal to the Regional Defense Council We are requesting that a mandatory evacuation of children be declared, to be carried out by force, from these settlements. First and foremost, this concerns Slatine and Ruska Lozova,” Oleksandr Kulik, spokesperson for the Derhachi City Military Administration, told the publication “Dumka.”

As of July 1, 2026, according to his data, there are 89 children remaining in the village of Slatine and 45 children in Ruska Lozova.

Kulik explained that the security situation there is deteriorating significantly, as “FPV drones… are terrorizing these settlements on a daily basis.”

“The decision to evacuate families with children from there must be made right now, so that it won’t be too late later,” stated the spokesperson for the Derhachi Municipal Military Administration.

He added that local authorities are doing everything necessary to this end, although “approval must be obtained from the Regional Defense Council on this matter.”

“Then the juvenile police, together with our child welfare service, must carry out the necessary measures there. The Regional Defense Council, with the assistance of the Kharkiv Regional Humanitarian Coordination Center, must prepare accommodations for these families with children,” the expert explained.

He added that mandatory evacuation from settlements under constant enemy shelling will help protect the health and lives of citizens.

“This appeal is driven by the need to preserve life and health—both physical and mental—of both children and their parents,” Kulik concluded.

On Wednesday, July 1, the official website of the Derhachi community in the Kharkiv district of the Kharkiv region published a strong recommendation to families with children—due to a significant deterioration in the security situation—to evacuate from the following settlements:

  • the Slatynskyi Starosta District;
  • the Rusko-Lozivsky Starosta District.
  • Local residents were reminded that the enemy has recently significantly intensified the use of attack drones in the border areas of the Kharkiv region.

“Due to the constant threat of enemy drone attacks, remaining in Slatyn and Ruska Lozova is extremely dangerous and poses a direct threat to the health and lives of civilians, especially children,” officials told residents.

It was clarified that even in the absence of heavy shelling, danger could arise at any moment.

At the same time, evacuation offers an opportunity not only to keep your children safe but also to gain access to:

  • more stable living conditions;
  • medical care;
  • education;
  • psychological support.

To arrange an evacuation, residents of the Derhachi community can contact:

  • either the Humanitarian Coordination Center—by calling the 24-hour hotline at 203;
  • or by calling the emergency services at 102 and 112.

“If you are unable to temporarily stay with relatives or acquaintances, you can use the state-run digital platform ‘PORUCH,’ created to organize the evacuation and accommodation of internally displaced persons,” officials advised Ukrainians.

It is noted that this service allows users—even before departure—to view available temporary housing options:

  • view photos;
  • find out information about conditions, the number of available spots, and the available infrastructure;
  • choose the most convenient option.

“After that, the information is automatically sent to all services involved in the evacuation—local communities, transport providers, and the host community—which allows for a safe trip directly to the reserved location,” local residents were informed.

Finally, people were asked to take these recommendations with the utmost seriousness.

“No material possessions are worth a human life. If you have the opportunity to temporarily relocate to safer areas, please take advantage of it,” the press service of the Derhachi community concluded.
