Commuter train routes in the Kyiv region have been changed due to the Russian Federation's attack
On the morning of August 18, due to the ongoing heightened threat in the Kyiv region, Ukrzaliznytsia made operational changes to the schedule of commuter trains. The changes affect, in particular, morning services on the Fastiv–Kyiv route.
Ukrzaliznytsia explained that the decision was made due to the ongoing threat to the region amid attacks by Russian drones.
On the Fastiv-1–Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi route, passengers are advised to use the following morning trains:
- No. 6006 and No. 6008 Fastiv-1 – Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi — instead of No. 7030;
- No. 6005 and No. 6011 Kyiv-Passenger – Fastiv-1 — instead of No. 7029.
At the same time, passengers are advised to monitor Ukrzaliznytsia’s updates, as the situation may change depending on the security situation.
Ukrzaliznytsia emphasized that regular commuter train service will resume once the air raid alert has ended.
The decision to restrict service is primarily due to the need to ensure the safety of passengers and railway employees during a prolonged threat of strikes.
On the night of August 17–18, Russian forces launched 147 attack drones of various types at Ukraine. Air defense forces destroyed 111 enemy targets, but strikes and falling debris were recorded in several regions.
Over the course of August 17, two people were killed and ten others were wounded as a result of Russian strikes on the Kherson region. Russian troops continue to attack civilian infrastructure and populated areas in the region.
