Russian oil giants funded camps for abducted Ukrainian children — Reuters
Russian energy companies may have been involved in financing camps where abducted Ukrainian children were taken.
This is reported by Reuters, citing a study by Yale University.
According to the researchers, between 2022 and 2025, more than 2,000 children were taken to camps in the occupied territories and in Russia, where they were subjected to pro-Russian indoctrination.
It is noted that the funding may have been provided through subsidiaries and trade unions of companies such as Gazprom and Rosneft.
Rosneft stated that the trade union is a separate entity and that the company allegedly was unaware of its activities.
At the same time, experts doubt this independence and point to the companies’ ties to the Russian government.
Following the publication of the study, a group of U.S. congressmen called for the reinstatement of sanctions against these companies.
U.S. First Lady Melania Trump has helped Ukrainian children return to their families for the fourth time since the war began. This time, six more minors returned home, and a seventh child will join their family later this month.
A panel discussion on Russia’s abduction and militarization of Ukrainian children took place in Prague on March 30, during which participants emphasized the need to increase international pressure for their return.
