Near Pokrovsk, a robot evacuated wounded soldiers for six hours under fire

Near Pokrovsk, a robot evacuated wounded soldiers for six hours under fire

In Donetsk region, near the city of Pokrovsk, Ukrainian paratroopers carried out a complex operation to evacuate wounded servicemen. To rescue their comrades, they used a ground robotic system.

Despite intense shelling and a direct hit, the equipment continued to carry out its task. For six hours, the robot operated in a high-danger zone, evacuating the wounded from the front line and helping to save the lives of Ukrainian defenders.

This was reported on Facebook by the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade.

The operation took place in extremely difficult conditions; however, thanks to the coordinated actions of the military personnel, the evacuation was successfully completed.

The ground platform of the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade broke through mud and enemy drones for six hours in order to deliver the wounded paratroopers to a stabilization point. Even a direct hit from an enemy FPV drone was unable to disable the equipment.

Two wounded soldiers were evacuated from different positions

The robot had to pick up two servicemen from separate locations. One of them was in serious condition after being struck by an enemy FPV drone. His side, back, and legs were lacerated by shrapnel. His condition was assessed as severe.

Due to the difficult situation in that sector, traditional evacuation by motor vehicle was too dangerous. Therefore, the decision to use the unmanned ground system became effectively the only chance to quickly remove the wounded from the “grey zone.”

The ground robot set out for the position to retrieve one soldier and on the way picked up another wounded serviceman who had lighter shrapnel injuries.

Attack on the return route

The road proved extremely difficult: deep ruts, slippery surface, and the constant threat of enemy unmanned aerial vehicles.

Moreover, on the return route after evacuating the first soldier, the robot came under attack by an FPV drone. One of the servicemen managed to jump off the platform, and the machine itself, despite being hit, withstood the strike and was able to continue moving.

An additional risk factor was difficult weather conditions, which further limited the mobility of the equipment.

However, despite the damage, the unmanned ground system reached the second position, picked up another wounded soldier, and delivered both servicemen to the designated evacuation point.

It was possible to deliver them to the stabilization point

At the final stage, the wounded were picked up by their comrades in a vehicle and transported to the stabilization point. In this way, it was possible to save the lives of two servicemen under extremely difficult conditions.

The brigade emphasized that the defense of the Pokrovsk direction remains one of the most difficult. Russian forces are actively using drones to control logistical routes, which significantly complicates the delivery of ammunition, rotations, and the evacuation of the wounded.

Also, on the night of 12 February, Volgograd region became the site of an attack on a military facility in the settlement of Kotluban.

In the Russian city of Ukhta (Komi Republic), which is located approximately 2,000 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, explosions were heard. The Lukoil-Ukhtaneftepererabotka oil refinery was struck.
