"Putin has missed his chance for a favorable peace," says Sibiga
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s refusal to engage in direct talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will have serious consequences for Russia. According to him, following this decision, the aggressor country faces new losses, economic problems, and increased international pressure.
Sybiga emphasized that by rejecting Zelenskyy’s proposal for direct peace talks, Putin has lost the opportunity to end the war on terms favorable to himself.
“By rejecting President Zelenskyy’s proposal for direct peace talks, Putin has lost his chance to extricate himself from this war, which has been a failure for him,” the minister noted.
According to Sibiga, the situation for Russia will only continue to worsen. He is convinced that the Russian army’s losses on the front lines will increase, and military setbacks will become increasingly evident.
In addition, the minister predicts a further deterioration of the economic situation in Russia.
“The economy will plunge even deeper into recession. More jobs will be lost, taxes will rise, and inflation will hit the most vulnerable segments of the population,” the foreign minister emphasized.
Sibiga also stated that Russia no longer has any territories that can be considered completely safe from Ukraine’s long-range strikes.
According to him, the intensity of such attacks will only increase, and international pressure on the Kremlin will continue to mount.
This involves not only sanctions but also the use of frozen Russian assets, new entry restrictions for Russians, and inevitable punishment for war crimes.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister is convinced that the Kremlin leader will not be able to carry out his plans regarding Ukraine by military means.
“All of this is because the Kremlin fanatic is determined to cling to power at any cost and is ready to sacrifice his own country’s future and kill millions of people for the sake of his insane delusions,” Sibiga stated.
The minister also stressed that Putin should abandon any hopes of Ukraine’s defeat, a reduction in international support for Kyiv, or a weakening of sanctions pressure on Russia.
“He would do well to abandon his futile hopes for Ukraine’s collapse, a reduction in support from its partners, or a weakening of pressure on Russia,” he noted.
According to Sibiga, Russia will ultimately have to agree to a diplomatic settlement of the war anyway, but the terms for the Kremlin will be significantly less favorable than they are now.
The foreign minister concluded that Putin’s refusal to engage in peace talks should serve as grounds for even greater international pressure on Russia and expanded support for Ukraine from its allies.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy made his position public on social media.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow is allegedly ready for negotiations to end the war against Ukraine, but sees no willingness for dialogue on the Ukrainian side.
Putin is not changing course and continues to finance the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy published an open letter to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The document formally proposes ending the war through direct bilateral talks between the leaders and implementing a complete ceasefire.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s open letter to Kremlin leader Putin has drawn widespread attention in the international media. Leading global publications have offered varying assessments of the Ukrainian leader’s appeal, noting both his tough rhetoric and diplomatic signals.
