Russia attacked Ukraine with drones; air defense forces shot down 137 drones
On the night of August 28, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 164 strike drones, including Shahed, “Gerbera,” and “Parody” decoy drones. Half of the strike drones launched were jet-powered.
The attack began at 6:00 p.m. on August 27. Russian forces launched the drones from the directions of Orel, Bryansk, Millerovo, the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk, and Gvardeyskoye in occupied Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 9:00 a.m., air defense forces had destroyed or neutralized 137 enemy UAVs, including Shahed, “Gerbera,” and other types.
Air targets were neutralized in the north, south, east, and center of Ukraine.
At the same time, airstrikes were recorded at 16 locations.
There are also reports of debris from downed drones falling at four locations.
As of 9:00 a.m., the Russian attack was not yet over. About 10 enemy drones remained in Ukrainian airspace.
Defense forces continued to neutralize aerial targets.
Ukrainians were urged to follow safety guidelines and not to ignore air raid alerts.

On August 28, Russian troops struck a shopping center in Zaporizhzhia. One person was injured in the attack, and the building sustained damage.
On the evening of August 27, Russian forces twice attacked the town of Zmiiv in the Chuhuiv district of the Kharkiv region with rocket-powered drones. One person was killed and two others were wounded in the Russian attack, including a child.
On the night of August 28, Russian forces launched an attack with four KAB missiles on the “Nova Poshta” sorting center in Sumy. The terminal was destroyed in the attack, but all employees survived.
Prior to this, Russia had attacked a Nova Poshta warehouse in the Kyiv region.
As a reminder, Russia carried out more than 860 strikes on Zaporizhzhia over the past 24 hours.
