Russia destroyed the Khortytsia plant in Zaporizhzhia
The “Khortytsia” Distillery in Zaporizhzhia, which is part of the international holding company Global Spirits, sustained serious damage as a result of a Russian attack and, according to the company, cannot be restored.
According to the company, four strikes were recorded at the facility. After the attack, the plant burned for at least three hours, and the extent of the damage proved to be catastrophic.
Global Spirits reported that the facility in Zaporizhzhia is completely unable to continue operations.
In addition to the destruction of production facilities, the company suffered significant losses of finished products. According to preliminary estimates, this amounts to approximately 3–4 million bottles for which excise tax had already been paid.
Some of the products were completely burned, while others were melted and must be disposed of, Global Spirits noted.
The average cost of a single bottle of finished product was about 100 hryvnias.
Thus, the cost of the destroyed and damaged finished products alone could amount to hundreds of millions of hryvnias, not including the value of the facility and equipment.
This is the second major loss of Global Spirits’ assets due to Russian attacks.
On the night of July 19, 2026, a Russian missile strike completely destroyed the company’s main finished-product warehouse in the Kyiv region.
The fire destroyed all warehouse facilities and inventory.
According to Global Spirits’ preliminary estimate, losses from that attack exceeded 100 million hryvnias. Of this amount, 74 million hryvnias consisted of taxes that had already been paid to the state budget, including excise tax, VAT, income tax, and payroll taxes.
Global Spirits is a major international spirits holding company that includes the “Khortytsia” Distillery in Zaporizhzhia, the “Odesa Cognac Factory,” and the “Ukrainian Distribution Company.”
The holding company’s headquarters are located in New York, USA.
According to Opendatabot, Yevhen Chernyak was the owner of the holding’s three legal entities until July 2022. Subsequently, the owner became Liechtenstein citizen Mikael Martin Wahtter.
Global Spirits’ portfolio includes more than 15 local, regional, and international brands. These include “Khortytsia,” “Pervak,” “Shustov,” “Morosha,” Oreanda, San Marino, “Mikado,” “Medovukha,” and others.
The holding company’s products are exported to more than 87 countries worldwide.
Following the start of the full-scale invasion, the company ceased operations in the Russian market.
On February 24, 2022, Global Spirits revoked its license to produce and distribute its products in Russia, citing the Russian military invasion of Ukraine as the reason for its decision.
The new attack on the “Khortytsia” plant dealt yet another major blow to the company’s production and logistics infrastructure.

In Kyiv, a Russian strike drone hit a warehouse where books from Readeat, Book.ua, and a number of Ukrainian publishers were stored. The facility sustained damage as a result of the attack.
The Russian strike destroyed the BookChef publishing house’s reserve warehouse, which contained 100,000 books.
Following the Russian strike on the warehouse, the Ranok publishing house is urgently reprinting the destroyed textbooks.
In Kyiv, Russian shelling damaged the logistics center of the “Ranok” publishing house.
