Russia carried out a massive “Shahed” attack on Ukraine, air defence destroyed 84 out of 94 drones
Ukraine’s air defence forces neutralised 84 out of 94 unmanned aerial vehicles with which Russian troops attacked the country from the evening of 1 March. The attack was carried out using strike drones of various types, including Shahed.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram.
According to the statement, from 18:30 on Sunday, 1 March, the Russian army launched 94 strike unmanned aerial vehicles of the Shahed, Gerbera and Italmass types, as well as drones of other types, from the directions of Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian Federation), and Hvardiiske (temporarily occupied Crimea). Around 70 of them were Shahed-type drones.
Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems and mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the air attack.
According to preliminary data, as of 08:00 on Monday, 2 March, air defence forces shot down or suppressed 84 enemy drones in the north, south and east of the country.
At the same time, strikes by 10 attack unmanned aerial vehicles were recorded at four locations. It was also reported that debris from downed drones fell at two locations. The attack is ongoing — several enemy drones remain in Ukraine’s airspace.
Russian occupiers carried out a massive drone attack on Kryvyi Rih during the night of 2 March. An enterprise was hit, as a result of which several fires broke out.
It is recalled that Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Brigadier General Pavlo Palisa, believes that the Russian Federation has not abandoned its intentions to expand the occupation of Ukrainian territories, in particular to seize the regional centres of Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odesa.
Total combat losses of Russian troops in manpower from 24 February 2022 to 1 March 2026 have reached approximately 1,266,770 personnel. In the last 24 hours alone, another 870 occupiers have been eliminated.
It is recalled that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Defence Forces of Ukraine have eliminated around 1,265,900 Russian military personnel, including 770 in the last 24 hours.
