Russia has begun using Iskander missiles that detonate after 30 minutes
Russian occupation forces have upgraded their Iskander-M ballistic missiles by adding delayed-detonation mechanisms.
According to observations, the missiles may contain cluster submunitions that scatter over hundreds of meters upon impact and do not explode immediately after hitting the target.
Instead, they detonate 20–30 minutes after impact, significantly increasing the risks to civilians and rescue services.
As noted, this delay in detonation is designed to target:
- State Emergency Service rescuers;
- medical personnel;
- police;
- civilians returning to the site of the strike.
In light of this new threat, citizens are urged to follow safety guidelines:
- Do not approach the impact site immediately after the explosion, even if the shelling has stopped.
- Avoid any suspicious objects—metal balls, cylinders, or debris that could detonate.
- Do not attempt to evacuate the affected area on your own before official emergency services arrive.
- Immediately report any dangerous objects found to the State Emergency Service or the police (101/102).
Experts emphasize that delayed detonation significantly complicates the work of emergency services and increases the risk of additional casualties even after the initial strike.
