Russian propaganda is circulating a doctored video in which a sign language interpreter is allegedly holding up a sign that reads “They are lying to you” during a speech by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.
In reality, the video is a fake. To create it, they used a real recording from the “Kyiv24” TV channel, but edited the video and altered the interpreter’s movements, adding a fictional sign that was not present in the original. The TV channel itself has also refuted this information.
The Center notes that this is yet another Russian information operation aimed at discrediting the Ukrainian leadership.
According to the agency, the enemy is using deepfake technology to create the illusion of internal discontent in Ukraine and provoke destabilization in society.
Russian propaganda has launched an information campaign against the Military Chaplaincy Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, accusing priests of creating punitive units. The occupiers are spreading videos with absurd claims about the clergy’s involvement in forming “barrier units” allegedly following NATO instructions.
The Center for Countering Disinformation has refuted claims spread by Russian propaganda regarding the alleged existence of so-called “death factories” in Ukraine.
