Russia has intensified its attacks with cruise missiles and drones on cities in the Donetsk region
Russian forces have intensified their attacks on populated areas in the Donetsk region. Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, and Druzhkivka are being struck almost daily by guided bombs and drones, and it is currently impossible to evacuate civilians from Kostiantynivka by vehicle.
This was reported by Pavlo Dyachenko, head of the communications department of the Donetsk Regional Police. According to him, Russian drones are deliberately targeting vehicles, particularly civilian cars.
“Drones are striking vehicles, including civilian cars. It doesn’t matter to the Russians where they strike—they just fire away from early in the morning. Last night, a kindergarten was destroyed in Kramatorsk. The essence of the Russians’ actions is to destroy, ruin, and kill everything,” he emphasized.
Dyachenko noted that due to the constant attacks, it is impossible to reach Kostiantynivka by vehicle. The evacuation of civilians by car has also been suspended—people can only leave the city on foot.
According to a police representative, in Druzhkivka, due to intense shelling, there is no electricity or gas supply, and there have been serious disruptions to communications.
At the same time, in Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, despite regular Russian strikes, utility services continue to address the aftermath of the attacks and restore damaged infrastructure, ensuring the cities remain functional.
The head of the Donetsk Regional Police Communications Department reported this during an appearance on the program “Ukrainian Focus: Morning” on Slawa.TV and Espreso.
As a reminder, over the past 24 hours, on July 16, Russian troops launched strikes on Kharkiv and 23 other settlements in the Kharkiv region. As a result of the enemy shelling, one person was killed and 14 others were wounded.
Russia attacked Ukraine with 151 drones and a missile; air defense forces neutralized more than 130 targets.
