Russia cynically claimed to have struck military targets during a massive attack on Ukraine

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed a massive strike on Ukraine on the night of September 8 and claimed to have struck military targets.

As is customary, the Russian ministry claims that during the attack, its troops struck only military targets. At the same time, the Russian attack caused destruction and fires in Ukrainian cities.

The Russian ministry reported that during the night, its troops carried out a massive strike using precision-guided weapons and attack drones.

“Last night, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a massive strike using ground- and air-based precision-guided weapons, as well as attack drones, as a result of which targets of Ukraine’s military-industrial complex, logistics and warehouse centers, and military facilities in the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region were struck, as well as a ship in the port of Chornomorsk that had delivered military cargo intended to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and UAV manufacturing and energy facilities in the city of Odesa and the Odesa region,” the statement reads.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the attack struck facilities of the military-industrial complex, logistics and warehousing centers, as well as military facilities in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.

The Russian side also reported striking a ship in the port of Chornomorsk, which it claims was carrying military cargo.

In addition, the statement mentions UAV manufacturing facilities and energy facilities in Odesa and the Odesa region.

At the same time, the statements from the Russian Ministry of Defense represent the aggressor’s version of events, which cannot be independently verified based on the information provided in the report.

The massive attack took place amid another round of Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure and populated areas.

This was reported by the Russian ministry.

On September 8, following a nighttime attack by the Russian Federation in the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv, a deep crater formed. Footage released shows a destroyed supermarket building and the aftermath of falling debris.

On September 8, Russian forces struck the Kyiv–Sumy train with two “Shahed” missiles. The train had been stopped in advance, and passengers and crew members were evacuated following a warning from the Ukrzaliznytsia monitoring team.

As a reminder, fires broke out at industrial facilities in the Kyiv region due to the Russian Federation’s attack.

Russia also launched a massive attack on Kyiv, killing and wounding civilians.

Later, rescue workers showed the aftermath of the strikes on Kyiv.
