Peskov claimed that Russia is allegedly close to victory in the war against Ukraine
Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia is supposedly nearing victory in the war against Ukraine. According to him, the Russian leadership is allegedly confident in its army and believes that the war will soon end on terms favorable to Moscow.
The Kremlin representative asserts that the Russian leadership is reportedly confident in the occupying forces’ ability to achieve the goals set by Moscow.
“We are confident that victory is very close; we have confidence in our military,” Peskov said.
At the same time, the Kremlin spokesperson did not provide any specific timelines or evidence to support his claims.
According to Peskov, the war that Russia started could allegedly have ended sooner. For that to happen, the Kremlin spokesperson claims, the Ukrainian authorities would have to agree to a series of demands put forward by Moscow.
Thus, Russia continues to shift the responsibility for ending the war onto Ukraine, despite the fact that it was Russia that launched a full-scale invasion.
Peskov’s statements reflect the position of the Russian leadership and contain no independent confirmation that Russia is actually nearing victory.
