Russia attacked a bridge in Kyiv for the second consecutive day — The Guardian

The Russian Federation, an aggressor state, attacked a bridge in Kyiv, Ukraine, for the second consecutive day. The evening drone strike on the closed Pivdennyi Bridge was another attack on the capital's infrastructure, The Guardian reports.

Traffic restrictions across the Dnipro

A series of strikes continuing since Thursday has caused the complete or partial suspension of traffic on the Pivdennyi Bridge and two other bridges across the Dnipro. Long traffic jams formed in the city in the morning and evening.

Before the latest attack, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko held a city council security meeting and described the situation in the capital as “very dramatic.” According to a Ukrainian official, strikes on bridges and other sensitive infrastructure facilities may be linked to an order by vladimir putin, who in September lifted restrictions on Russia's air campaign.

According to an economic analyst's estimate, around 500,000 people travel daily from the left bank of the Dnipro to the right bank.

Deaths and injuries

Earlier the same day, one person was killed and two others were injured as a result of a Russian drone strike. The attack caused a fire on the upper floors of a residential building.

In Kharkiv, two people were killed and another 32 were injured in a guided aerial bomb strike, the head of the regional administration reported. The Guardian notes that intensified Russian attacks are changing everyday life in Kyiv, which Moscow is trying to leave without electricity.

Separately, the joint U.S.-Ukrainian reconstruction investment fund signed its first agreement on critical minerals and also has four more new projects. According to Conor Coleman, head of investments at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, their total value is about $70 million. Approximately $30 million is planned for investment in a joint platform with BGV Group.
