Russia struck the centre of Sumy twice, causing a fire at a hotel

In the early hours of the morning, Russian forces launched an attack on the central part of Sumy. As a result of the shelling, a fire broke out in a hotel building, and rescuers evacuated around 50 people.

This was reported on Telegram by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

“Russia struck the hotel – during firefighting efforts, a second attack took place. The strike hit the central part of the city. Rescuers evacuated 50 civilians,” the statement said.

According to the service, while firefighters were extinguishing the blaze, Russian forces launched a repeated strike at the location where emergency crews were working. Despite this, none of the personnel were injured. The fire was quickly brought under control.

The National Police of Ukraine reported that the shelling of the regional centre occurred at around 4:00 a.m. Police officers and rescuers are working at the scene, documenting the aftermath of the attack. 

Information about possible casualties is being clarified.

The day before, Russian troops shelled two districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region 20 times, using artillery and drones. As a result of the attacks, a 73-year-old woman was injured and is receiving outpatient treatment.

Russian forces also struck Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region, injuring a local resident.
