Russia has issued an arrest warrant for the new commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Mykhailo Drapaty
The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a warrant for the arrest of the newly appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapaty. This is not the first time that Russian law enforcement agencies have added a Ukrainian military officer to their wanted lists.
According to the report, a special “Wanted” entry appeared in the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs’ wanted persons database immediately after his appointment. It is noted that he is “wanted under an article of the Criminal Code.”
It is unclear exactly why the occupying forces placed Drapaty on the wanted list. There is no information regarding the specific article of the Russian Criminal Code.
But this is not the first time the Russian Investigative Committee has taken an interest in the Ukrainian major general. Previously, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation brought charges against Drapaty in absentia.
According to the agency, in 2017 and 2019, he, together with Viktor Nikoluk, exercised overall command of Ukraine’s Joint Forces Operation.
Under their leadership, Ukrainian troops allegedly carried out more than 70 shelling attacks on populated areas in the so-called “DPR” and “LPR.” It is noted that, as a result, 154 people were allegedly killed or wounded.
Earlier, Fedorov congratulated Drapato on his appointment as commander-in-chief and thanked Syrskyi.
