Video: Drones attacked Crimea; explosions were heard in Yalta, Feodosia, and Alushta
On the night of July 22, the temporarily occupied Crimea came under attack by drones. Explosions and fires were reported in several cities across the peninsula, including Yalta, Feodosia, and Alushta.
Around midnight, followers of the “Crimean Wind” channel reported a drone flying overhead and an explosion in Yalta, followed shortly thereafter by another powerful explosion, after which gunfire was heard in the city. According to the channel, a bright glow was observed over the Darsan Hill area following the explosions—that is where the 110/10 kV “Darsan” power substation is located, which drones have already struck several times this summer. In Yalta itself, a fire broke out after the drones arrived, and power went out in some parts of the city. Later, eyewitnesses reported that drones flew over the city again—the occupying forces attempted to shoot them down with tracer rounds.
In Alushta, power was also cut off following an explosion—local public media outlets are reporting a strike on the city’s energy infrastructure. Explosions and gunfire were heard in Feodosia: according to eyewitnesses, mobile fire teams of the occupying forces tried to shoot down drones, but to no avail, and the smell of burning was noticeable in the city.
Official occupation authorities have not yet commented on the extent of the damage in any of the affected cities.
Robert Brovdi (“Madyar”), commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces unit, stated that as a result of strikes by Ukrainian forces, the Kerch ferry crossing—a key logistical artery for Russian troops in Crimea— has been rendered nearly inoperable.
The Russian Red Cross has begun stockpiling additional humanitarian aid for the temporarily occupied Crimea and Sevastopol following the declaration of a state of emergency on the peninsula.
