Russia has intensified its attacks on Naftogaz; some facilities have shut down
Russian troops attacked facilities belonging to the Naftogaz Group 13 times over the course of a single week in various regions of Ukraine. The company reported serious damage to production facilities and equipment, and some facilities had to be shut down due to the shelling.
According to the company, Russian troops carried out 13 strikes on Naftogaz Group facilities last week. The attacks involved both drones and missiles. The Russians struck one of the company’s assets several times.
Naftogaz notes that Russian troops have recently been increasingly targeting production infrastructure. The strikes have caused serious damage to the facilities. This goes beyond just individual buildings; production facilities and equipment necessary for gas production have also been damaged.
Some facilities had to be shut down
Due to the constant attacks, operations at some of Naftogaz’s facilities have been suspended. According to the company, this is leading to a loss of part of its gas production volume. At the same time, specialists are working to restore the damaged facilities to operation as quickly as possible.
Restoration begins as soon as the security situation allows employees to be on site and carry out the necessary work. The company emphasizes that people’s safety remains the top priority. “Thanks to strict adherence to safety protocols, none of our employees were injured during the enemy attacks—and that is the most important thing,” Naftogaz stated.
Attacks Have Doubled in Intensity
Naftogaz notes that Russian troops have already attacked the Group’s facilities 293 times this year. At the same time, the intensity of the strikes has more than doubled compared to previous years.
The company also draws attention to the nature of the attacks. Russia is systematically targeting facilities that support gas production. As a result, damage to a single facility can affect not only its operations but also overall production volumes. This situation becomes particularly critical as the heating season approaches. Ukraine continues to prepare for winter, but must do so amid constant attacks on its energy infrastructure.
Preparations for winter continue
Despite the shelling, Naftogaz continues its preparations for the winter. The company acknowledges that this year’s situation is extremely challenging due to the unprecedented intensity of the attacks. Specialists continue to work at production sites and repair damaged equipment wherever the security situation allows. “I thank everyone who is working at production sites today under such conditions and ensuring the country’s gas supply,” said Serhiy Fedorenko, acting chairman of Naftogaz’s board of directors.
Thus, Russian strikes are creating additional risks for Ukrainian gas production on the eve of winter. Despite this, the company continues to restore damaged facilities and work to ensure the country’s gas supply. This information comes from a statement by the Naftogaz Group.
In Izium, Kharkiv Oblast, five people were injured as a result of a Russian airstrike. The enemy also damaged at least 15 residential buildings.
Since the evening of August 16, the Russian army has attacked four districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region nearly 20 times. Five people were wounded as a result of the enemy strikes.
In Kherson, power outages occurred as a result of yet another round of Russian shelling.
