The Russians are trying to infiltrate the Slobozhanshchyna region in very small infantry groups
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna and Northern Slobozhanshchyna sectors, Russian troops are attempting to identify weaknesses in Ukrainian defenses using small and very small infantry groups.
According to Tregubov, Russian troops sometimes operate even alone, attempting to infiltrate through gaps in the Ukrainian forces’ defenses.
“In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector primarily, as well as in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna sector, there are constant attempts by small, and more recently, ultra-small Russian infantry groups to find gaps in Ukrainian lines and establish a foothold where there is no direct control by Ukrainian troops, particularly in the gaps between Ukrainian positions,” Tregubov said.
According to him, the Russians are gradually reducing the size of such groups. Whereas previously they consisted of about half a squad, over the past year they have mainly used groups of two or three soldiers, and now there are even cases of infiltration by a single soldier, he added.
“The fewer people there are, the greater the chance of passing unnoticed. The fewer people there are, the smaller the trail they leave behind, and the less noticeable they are,” the spokesperson explained.
Tregubov reported that Russian soldiers are attempting to move undetected through specific areas where enemy drones are operating in order to reach a place where they can hide or find cover.
“One person can sneak through where 20 people would be very easy to spot, where even three people would be more noticeable than one. That is precisely why military vehicles aren’t used en masse, because they’re conspicuous. A single person can carry out truly covert operations,” he said.
After that, according to the spokesperson, others may join this soldier to gradually build up a group for further operations.
“And this group will then carry out more active operations, including direct offensive actions,” Tregubov said.
At the same time, he noted that recently the number of combat clashes on the main fronts has decreased somewhat compared to the previous period.
“There are certain signs that the Russians are not currently taking a pause, but rather going through a period of resource depletion on our main fronts,” the spokesperson stated.
Tregubov clarified that this refers, in particular, to the Kupiansk and Southern Slobozhanshchyna sectors.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) exposed and detained a Russian agent in Kharkiv who was helping the enemy carry out strikes on Defense Forces facilities. The detainee was accused of coordinating Russian attacks on the city’s military facilities.
As a reminder, fires broke out at industrial facilities in the Kyiv region as a result of an attack by the Russian Federation.
Russia also launched a massive attack on Kyiv, killing and wounding civilians.
Later, rescue workers showed the aftermath of the strikes on Kyiv.
