Police Major Andriy Balytskyi was killed in the Donetsk region
In the Donetsk region, a farewell was held for Police Major Andriy Balytskyi, who died while performing his duties. On September 14, an FPV drone struck the police vehicle in which the officer was traveling. Andriy was buried in Bila Tserkva, Kyiv Oblast.
The Donetsk Regional Police bid farewell to Major Andriy Balytskyi. The law enforcement officer was killed on September 14 when a Russian FPV drone struck his patrol car. Andriy’s family, friends, colleagues, and the leadership of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Donetsk Oblast came to pay their last respects. Andriy Balytskyi was born on April 4, 1991, in Horlivka, Donetsk Oblast. The city is currently under Russian occupation.
In 2012, Andriy graduated from Luhansk State University of Internal Affairs. After completing his studies, he began serving in law enforcement in his hometown of Horlivka. In 2014, after the start of Russian aggression, Andriy left the occupied territory and moved to an area where Ukrainian authorities continued to exercise control. He remained faithful to his oath and continued his service in the Ukrainian police.
In the years that followed, Balytskyi held various positions in the territorial police units of the Kramatorsk district. He continued to perform his duties even amid full-scale war. On September 14, the officer’s life was cut short while on duty. An FPV drone struck the police vehicle in which Andriy was traveling.
His colleagues remember him as a reliable and responsible person. According to them, he was always there for those who needed help and was a pillar of support for his comrades. “Andriy was the embodiment of honor, courage, and responsibility. A dependable colleague and a man with a big heart, he was always a steadfast pillar of support for those around him. He will remain in our hearts forever,” his colleagues say of the police officer.
Andriy Balytskyi was buried in Bila Tserkva, Kyiv Oblast. His loved ones and fellow officers gathered there to say their final goodbyes to him. The deceased police officer is survived by his mother, brother, wife, and daughter. Andriy Balytskyi was 35 years old. He dedicated more than ten years to serving in the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and remained on duty until the very end.
Colleagues and police leadership expressed their condolences to the family and loved ones of the fallen officer. May Andriy Balytskyi rest in peace.
Throughout the day, Russian invaders attacked five districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region more than 40 times, using drones, artillery, and aerial bombs. As a result of the enemy strikes, three people were killed and five others were wounded.
On the morning of September 17, Russian troops struck the “Epicenter” shopping center in Kharkiv. As a result of the attack, the building sustained significant damage and caught fire.
The enemy attacked a passenger bus in the Kosmichny district of Zaporizhzhia using an FPV drone. At the time of the attack, there were people on board who were traveling on their way to run errands.
