Russia used cruise missiles only once in August to strike Ukraine
In August, Russia used cruise missile launchers to attack Ukraine only once—this occurred on the night of August 20. By comparison, such strikes were recorded three times in July.
“This month’s attack… was the first time cruise missile launchers were used. Last month, they (the Russians—ed.) used them three times,” Pletenchuk noted.
According to him, Russian ships are currently not going out to sea, and missile launches are being carried out directly from the harbor.
The spokesperson added that following the destruction of two Russian frigates—the “Admiral Essen” and the “Admiral Makarov”—the Russian Black Sea Fleet now has three surface-based cruise missile carriers and two submarines remaining.
Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, made these remarks during a television broadcast.
Over the course of August 20, Russian troops carried out 1,069 strikes on 51 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. Four people were wounded as a result of the enemy attacks.
On the evening of August 20 and overnight on August 21, Russian troops attacked the Nikopol, Synelnykiv, and Pavlohrad districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region with drones. Local authorities reported on the consequences of the strikes.
On the night of August 21, Russian forces attacked the village of Lebyazhe in the Chuhuiv district with six strike UAVs. Two women were killed in the attack, two others were injured, and private homes were damaged or destroyed.
On the night of August 21, Russia launched a massive drone strike on the Sumy region, targeting Sumy and Konotop. The shelling damaged residential buildings, and at least two people were injured.
