Russia Lost More Than 2,000 Soldiers in a Day, According to the General Staff
Over the 24-hour period from October 4 to October 5, the Russian army lost 2,020 troops in the war against Ukraine. Ukrainian defense forces also destroyed nearly 1,900 drones and hundreds of enemy vehicles.
The enemy’s total combat losses from February 24, 2022, to October 5, 2026, are estimated as follows:
- personnel—approximately 1,542,720 (+2,020) individuals;
- tanks—12,393 (+2);
- armored combat vehicles—25,487 (+4);
- artillery systems—50,733 (+47);
- multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS)—2,182 (+3);
- air defense systems—1,688 (+2);
- aircraft—443 units;
- helicopters—356 units;
- operational-tactical UAVs—548,095 (+1,855) units;
- cruise missiles—5,126 units;
- ships/boats – 35 units;
- submarines – 2;
- Vehicles and tanker trucks—157,985 (+727) units;
- special equipment – 4,793 (+5) units

On the night of October 4, Russian forces launched 135 drones into Ukrainian territory, including “Shahed,” “Gerbera,” “Banderole”/“Dan-T,” and decoy drones.
On the morning of October 4, Russian troops struck downtown Dnipro, hitting the premises of a telecommunications company.
In the Dnipro district of the capital, debris from enemy drones was reported to have fallen at two locations on the morning of October 4. This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
