Russia carried out a massive strike on Ukraine’s energy system: nine people injured

On the night of Tuesday, Russian forces launched another powerful attack across Ukrainian regions, focusing primarily on energy infrastructure.

According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the enemy used over 70 missiles of various types and about 450 attack drones. The main targets were Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv region including the capital, as well as Dnipro, Odesa, and Vinnytsia regions.

As a result of the strikes, nine people were injured. Significant damage was recorded to residential buildings and energy facilities, including in Kyiv, where drone hits caused fires in multi-story buildings. One kindergarten in the capital was also damaged. Emergency services are working on-site to eliminate the consequences and restore power.

President Zelensky emphasized that Russia deliberately strikes during the coldest winter days to intensify terror against civilians. He stated that “for the Kremlin, this is more important than the possibility of choosing a path toward diplomacy.”

The head of state stressed that such actions further demonstrate the urgent need to accelerate the delivery of weapons to Ukraine, especially missiles for air defense systems. “Without systemic pressure on Russia, ending this war is impossible,” Zelensky said.

He added that Moscow relies on escalation and fear, so the international community must strengthen sanctions and military support for Ukraine. The president also thanked partners who understand the scale of the threat and help the Ukrainian people withstand Russian 

During a massive combined attack on Kyiv, one person was injured.

Due to heavy shelling by Russian forces, the Izium and Balakliia communities in Kharkiv region lost electricity.

On the night of February 3, Russian occupiers struck apartment buildings in the Sumy community, hitting the Zarichnyi district.

On February 2, Russian forces struck Kharkiv with a combat drone, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
