Putin was briefed on problems with gasoline production
Russia is unable to rapidly increase gasoline production, despite oil refineries operating at full capacity. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak reported this to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
According to him, to stabilize the situation on the fuel market, the authorities have shortened refinery maintenance periods, postponed scheduled work, and maximized the involvement of small and medium-sized enterprises in production. Russia has also completely banned the export of gasoline and jet fuel, and is currently considering restrictions on diesel fuel exports.
At the same time, according to Reuters, following attacks on Russian oil refineries, gasoline production has fallen by about a quarter and now covers only about 80% of the country’s domestic needs.
To cover the shortfall, Moscow is considering large-scale gasoline imports from abroad. Russia is already purchasing fuel from Belarus, but these volumes are insufficient.
The fuel crisis in Russia is intensifying: gasoline is disappearing from gas stations and lines are growing.
Russia has allowed the use of lower-quality gasoline due to the fuel crisis.
