Russians mine waterways and send reconnaissance units under fire in Kherson region
In the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region, Russian forces are actively mining waterways and passages in the coastal zone.
This was reported to Ukrinform by the spokesperson of the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn.
They are trying to complicate the work of Ukrainian units and protect themselves from potential operations by the Defense Forces.
The extensive mining indicates Russian fears regarding the further development of events on this section of the front.
According to Voloshyn, Russian forces have achieved no results on the Kherson direction. They have made no progress, and their assault attempts, carried out in waves, are failing.
Some days, the occupiers do not dare to launch attacks at all, while on other days they carry out several assaults. This tactic brings them no success and only increases personnel losses.
The spokesperson explained that the enemy attempts to operate according to a similar scenario: one day they assault intensively, then move to regroup. During this time, they bring in reserves, equipment, and ammunition in preparation for new attacks.
However, they are unable to change the situation in their favor — Ukrainian units hold their positions and inflict significant losses on the Russians. Attempts to force Ukrainian troops into unfavorable battles end in failure for the enemy.
Iin Kupiansk, the occupiers are putting up “very strong” resistance, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue clearing operations.
