Russians are attempting to break through in the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole sectors — General Staff

Over the past 24 hours, 204 combat engagements took place on the front lines. The situation remains most tense in the Pokrovsk sector, where Russian troops carried out more than 30 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian defenders.

In addition to ground assaults, the Russian army actively employed aircraft, missiles, and kamikaze drones. Ukrainian forces continue to repel the enemy’s offensive operations and inflict casualties on them.

 

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that 204 combat engagements have been recorded on the front lines since the start of the day. Russian troops continue to exert intense pressure along virtually the entire front line. According to military sources, during the day the enemy launched two missile strikes using two missiles, carried out 48 airstrikes, and dropped 160 guided bombs. The occupiers also deployed more than 6,000 kamikaze drones and carried out more than 2,000 artillery strikes on Ukrainian positions and populated areas.

Six combat engagements took place in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors. In addition, Russian troops carried out 51 shelling attacks, including six uses of multiple-launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Slobozhansky direction, the occupiers made 13 attempts to break through the defenses of Ukrainian units near Izbytske, Starytsia, Kutkivka, Kozacha Lopana, Lyman, Vovchanski Khutory, and Okhrimivka. Some of the fighting was still ongoing as of this evening.

In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces launched one assault toward Shyikivka. The Lyman and Sloviansk sectors also remain active. Near Novoselivka, Drobysheve, and Lyman, Ukrainian forces repelled 11 attacks. Another 13 enemy advances were halted near Riznykivka, Zakytne, Kryva Luka, and Rai-Oleksandrivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, one assault was recorded in the Malynivka area. The situation also remains tense in the Kostiantynivka sector. Here, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions 14 times near Pleshchiivka, Ivanopil, Illinivka, Rusyn Yar, and in the direction of Kostiantynivka.

As usual, the Pokrovsk sector saw the most attacks. Over the past 24 hours, the occupiers carried out 32 assaults. Fighting took place near Vilne, Novyi Donbas, Novooleksandrivka, Kotlyne, as well as in the directions of Hryshyne, Myrne, Bilytske, Dobropillia, Rodynske, Serhiivka, and a number of other settlements.

Ukrainian military officials report significant enemy losses specifically in this sector of the front. According to preliminary data, 44 occupiers were killed, and another 17 were wounded. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed one self-propelled artillery system, two vehicles, and three pieces of specialized enemy equipment. Two more vehicles were damaged.

Separately, the military reported the successful operation of air defense systems and anti-drone units. Over the past 24 hours, they managed to destroy or neutralize 258 enemy UAVs of various types. In the Oleksandrivka sector, Ukrainian units repelled one enemy attack.

Russian troops carried out 18 more assaults in the Huliaipole sector. Fighting continued in the areas of Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, and Charivne, as well as in the directions of Rybne, Dobropillia, Kosivtseve, Zarichne, Staroukrainka, and Danilivka. At the same time, no combat clashes were recorded over the past 24 hours in the Orikhiv and Dnipro sectors. The General Staff emphasizes that Ukrainian troops continue to hold their positions and inflict losses on the enemy, despite a high level of combat activity along the entire front line. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, on June 16, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don handed down sentences to two Ukrainian prisoners of war from the “Azov” battalion, sentencing them to 17 and 20 years of imprisonment in a penal colony.

In Russia, further sentences have been handed down to Ukrainian prisoners of war. The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced six defenders of Ukraine to terms ranging from 12 to 19 years in a strict-regime penal colony.
