Russians have destroyed 937 cultural sites in Ukraine — Office of the President
As a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 937 cultural heritage sites have been damaged or completely destroyed.
During the latest massive attack on June 15, the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio and the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra sustained significant damage.
On the grounds of the legendary Dovzhenko Film Studio, a Russian missile struck directly the workshop where unique artifacts were stored.
As a result of the explosion and fire, 3 million items were completely destroyed, including 100,000 costumes from such iconic Ukrainian films as “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors,” “The Lost Letter,” and “Chasing Two Hares.”
A massive blast wave damaged the entire surrounding infrastructure of the facility, shattering windows in all 15 buildings located on the 15-hectare site.
The consequences of the strikes were no less devastating for the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which is officially a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In addition to significant damage to the Assumption Cathedral, the explosions damaged the National Treasury building, the Printing Museum, the historic Kushchnyk Tower, and several other structures within the architectural complex.
Ukrainian officials emphasize that the deliberate destruction of the capital’s spiritual and historical centers is not a coincidence.
“If you think that the attacks on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and the Dovzhenko Film Studio were isolated incidents—that is absolutely not the case,” emphasized the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office.
According to official data from the Office of the Prosecutor General, the overall scale of destruction in the country’s civilian sector is catastrophic.
To date, Russian invaders have destroyed 338,294 civilian infrastructure facilities, including 336 churches, mosques, and synagogues, 1,507 hospitals, as well as 5,453 schools, vocational schools, and universities.
Systematic strikes on religious and educational institutions demonstrate the enemy’s intent to completely eradicate Ukrainian identity.
This was officially reported by Olena Kovalskaya, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, on her Facebook page.
